ANANYAN Vakhtang was born on August 8, 1905, in the village of Poghoskilisa (now in Dilijan city). An Armenian writer. Honored Art Worker of the Armenian SSR (1968). 
He worked at the newspapers “Matchkal” (1930-31) and “Socialist Agriculture” (1931-35). In 1935, V. Ananyan became the responsible editor of the newspaper “Kolkhoznik”. Ananyan is famous for his hunter stories (“Hunt” 1934, collection of “The Hunting Stories” (1947-77), novels (“Inside the fire circle” 1930, “On the shore of Sevan”, 1951, “The captives of Hovazadzor”, 1956). Based on the latter two works, the films ”Secret of mountainous lake” and “The captivesof Hovazadzor” were shot (Armenfilm 1954-1957). Ananyan’s “Animal world of Armenia” is a remarkable work (volume 1-4, 1961-67, State Prize of the Armenian SSR, in 1970). His works were translated into different languages. V. Ananyan died on March 4, 1980 in Yerevan.
