ATRPET (Mubayajyan Sargis) was born on June 31, 1860 in Kars. An Armenian writer, public figure. Member of Tiflis committee of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHP) (from 1893). In 1895 he was arrested and sent to Rostov-on-Don. After the release he published  newspaper “Apaga” in Tabriz. In the novel “Almast” (1891) he depicted the activities of the secret organization “Pashtpan Hayrenyats” (“Defenders of the Homeland”).

In overthrowing the Hamidian regime Atrpet stressed the importance of Armenian-Turkish “revolutionary cooperation”.

The short story "Tjvjik" depicts the life of Western Armenians (film of the same name, 1961).  He also wrote historical, philological research works, journalistic articles (“Landowning in Caucasus” 1906, “Coins of the Armenian kings and cities from the ancient times till Tiridates” 1916). Atrpet died in 1937 in Leninakan.
