International Mother Language Day was first announced by UNESCO on November 17, 1999. Since 2000 it is held annually on February 21 to promote and preserve language and culture diversity. It is also celebrated in Armenia and today many events are going to be held in many parts of Yerevan. At 11:30 pupils of different schools will perform in front of the Matenadaran. At 12:30 discussion on “Issues and prospects of the Western Armenian” will kick off in conference hall of NAS RA. At 18:30 Panarmenian Touth Symphonic Orchestra, “Mestrop Mashtots” Language Culture Centre, Children choir of Syrian Armenians “Sharavigh” Ararat patriarchal diocese group "Tsakhkazard", etc will perform in Arno Babajanyan Concert hall.
