On 22 September, 2017 the Yerevan office of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society held an event dedicated to the 55th anniversary of “Pakin”, the literary journal. Member of the Central Committee of Hamazkayin Vicken Tufenkjian, Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Armenia Edvard Militonyan, Diasporan-Armenian literary critic Mark Nshanian, lecturer of Western Armenian Hagop Cholakian and others made speeches at the event.
Sonia Sanan Kilejian, the current editor of the journal, answered the questions of the audience, spoke about her activities from 2016 to today, and presented the history of founding “Pakine” and the importance of the old volumes in the field of the literature of the Armenian Diaspora. Kilejian also highlighted the dedicated work of the former editors.
The attendees suggested that “Pakine” should have its own website, where, beside the electronic version of the journal, the authors of the field will have the opportunity to conduct literary discussion and exchange their ideas. Therefore, the Internet could be the best platform to unite them, given the fact that the authors of the journal are scattered worldwide today. |
